No, really! Don’t trust your web browser to underline misspelled words, and don’t trust the auto-correct feature in your text editor to solve all your problems. Take your text and run the real spell check on it to ensure you don’t have dumb mistakes taking away from your virtual image.

Look For Grammar Errors

As you wrote your profile, did you talk about “what your looking for” or “what you’re looking for” in the right places? This is just one example of a common grammatical error that many potential mates find unattractive. Read over your profile text slowly to ensure you haven’t made this or any other basic grammar error.

Watch For Missing Words

Once you have surveyed your text for basic spelling and grammatical errors, you should also scan it through for missing words. Did you leave out an “a” or a critical “the” in your text? These errors won’t necessarily show up in a spelling or grammar checking program, so you want to make sure you have a visual scan done.

Check Your Flow

At this point, you have been through your profile three times. Now it is time for the final check – reading the profile aloud. This helps check for sentence structures that sound awkward, or sentences that go on too long for comfort. It will help you pick out sentence fragments, and ensure that your best version of your voice shines through in your online profile.
