<p><strong>Detect Anything Unusual</strong></p>
<p><strong></strong>Mammograms provide a baseline view of normal breast tissue. Doctors usually recommend that a woman have a baseline mammogram between the ages of 35 and 40, unless there is a family history that warrants a different schedule. Most cancers don’t begin to show up until a woman is in her forties or later, so the baseline mammogram gives the doctor a picture of the woman’s presumably healthy breast, in case anything shows up on later exams.</p>
<p><strong>Early Detection</strong></p>
<p>Mammograms allow early detection of small cancers. One of the most potent weapons in the war on breast cancer is early detection. Cancer that is caught and treated before it has a chance to spread can often be cured. Mammograms can detect cancers that are too small to be felt by clinical breast exams.  Mammograms can identify areas of small micro-calcifications that may be early warning signs of future cancers. Micro-calcifications are rarely a cause for treatment, but they do require careful watching.</p>
<p><strong>Peace of Mind</strong></p>
<p>Mammograms provide peace of mind. It’s easy to forget to do monthly self exams, but forgetting doesn’t mean a woman isn’t concerned about breast cancer. A mammogram that gives an “all-clear” can relieve a woman’s concerns that she may have harmed herself by doing a manual exam incorrectly or skipping it altogether.</p>
<p><strong>Schedule</strong></p>
<p>Ask your doctor about how to schedule a mammogram at the best facilities nearby. If you’re uninsured or can’t afford a mammogram, many cancer foundations set aside funds to provide free or low cost mammograms. Your doctor should have information on how you can get a mammogram under one of these programs.</p>
<p>To schedule a mammogram, call a local hospital or medical facility and ask to set up an appointment. Many local and regional hospitals have set up women’s centers that specialize in mammography, bone densitometry and other tests of particular importance to women.</p>
<p>A women’s center is often a more comfortable and relaxed place to get a mammogram than a general X-ray facility, but the most important thing when scheduling a mammogram is to make sure that the facility is accredited. This ensures that the equipment has been correctly calibrated and that the technicians and radiologist are skilled in conducting the test and reading the resulting films.</p>

<p>Most women begin receiving annual Pap smears right around their eighteenth birthday and continue on for the rest of their lives. Often through the years a little extra weight piles on and our muscles and joints are not as exercised and strong as we would like them to be. We make a resolution every year to drop the extra weight, eat healthier, and every year we break that resolution.<span id="more-3541"></span></p>
<p>Going to the gym just seems to be such a chore that we often just don’t go. Who wants to spend an hour running on a treadmill and literally getting nowhere? What we really need is to find a way to exercise and have fun at the same time. What we really want to do is dance!</p>
<p>Dancing is a fun and fantastic way to rhythmically bring our bodies back to life and lose the unwanted pounds. The latest craze sweeping not only the U.S. but the world, involves high tempo music and sweaty groups of men and women “bustin” a move towards a better body. With “dancer-cise” classes popping up in every suburb across the country, people are fanatically using their favourite artists to inspire them to a healthy living.</p>
<p>We have all known that dancers are amongst the fit population. We have seen them moving their bodies in ways we never thought we could. Now it is possible for us all to dance our ways into the perfect form. Dance is not only fun, it also provides a long list of benefits that include:</p>
<p><strong>Flexibility:</strong><br />
Through dance a person becomes much more flexible as they use more muscles, bend, stretch, and use full range of motion. This flexibility helps the dancer in all aspects of their everyday life, walking, jogging, bending, lifting and more.</p>
<p><strong>Strength:</strong><br />
Dancing increases strength by forcing the muscles as they work to resist against the dancers own body. Leg muscles are a good example of strength that has come from dancing.</p>
<p><strong>Endurance:</strong><br />
Through all the hours of dance your endurance slowly builds up to the point that what made you out of breath in the beginning now is not even bothering you. You will find you are able to dance for longer periods of time and in turn are able to increase your everyday energy levels.</p>
<p><strong>Health:</strong><br />
Dance helps in the prevention of Osteoporosis, keeps joints lubricated helps with circulation and calorie burn. As well as increasing your overall health.</p>
<p>The many types of dances that you can do, will help you have fun learning something new, expose you to other cultures, target a physical problem area on your body that you would like to work on and help you meet many new people.</p>
<p><strong>Latest Dance Crazes:</strong><br />
Each type of dance has its own history and its own meaning, which can also help you learn more and benefit from the fellowship of new friends and teachers.</p>
<p><strong>Belly Dancing:</strong><br />
Improves posture and muscle tone, utilizes the muscles in the abdomen, pelvis area, spine, neck and trunk. Through repetitive motions, the body’s natural lubricant increases in flow. Shoulders, hips, back and arms are all gently exercised in an even natural flow. The body works with itself and not against its natural movements.</p>

Has been known to help people with Parkinson’s because of the great amount of memory skills and exercise it uses. It relieves depression and self-esteem issues as people build their confidence, increases your passion and creativity, helps you focus and concentrate, and increase overall health and happiness.</p>

<p>Dance can change the way you look, move, walk, bend and especially feel. You can have new energy, greater balance and a stress free atmosphere in your life. Unfortunately, the things that tend to go first are those items considered “unnecessary.”  It starts by cutting out non-essential spending; movie night, gym memberships, and other “luxury” items go first.  As the collective family belt gets tighter, healthy snacks for weight loss and high quality cuts of meat are sacrificed for lower quality, less expensive foods.  So try out these options to save money without sacrificing quality on fitness and health related activities.<span id="more-3512"></span></p>
<p><strong> 1.  Talk to your human resources representative</strong></p>
<p>Many employers are recognizing the value of having employees that are healthy.  Benefits include fewer sick days, with overall happier employees.  For this reason, you may find that you can get a discounted gym membership through work.  Some employers go so far as to pay up to half of a monthly gym membership fee.</p>
<p><strong> 2.  Skip the riding mower</strong></p>
<p>The vast majority of lawns around the U.S. are relatively small; a half acre or less.  Riding mowers are expensive; lawn tractors usually start around $1000, while zero-turn radius mowers easily exceed twice that cost.  But selecting a push mower to do your weekly mowing save you 80% or more of the purchase price.  It offers the added benefit of demanding regular, weekly walking.  Self-propelled walk behind mowers are easily pushed, and enforce walking at least 2-3 miles/week during the grass-cutting season.  You get the added benefit of the best possible cut for your grass, as well.</p>
<p><strong> 3.  Plant a square foot garden</strong></p>
<p>As the cost of goods rises, so does the cost of food.  Unfortunately, the healthiest items in the grocery store are often times the most expensive as well.  Planting a small garden can work wonders on reducing the household grocery bill.  Unfortunately, many people think they need large plots of land to garden, but today’s more advanced gardening techniques largely eliminate that need for small families.  Square foot gardens or container gardens can meet many of the needs for families with minimal investments in cost and space.  No tilling required.</p>
<p><strong> 4.  Join a farm cooperative</strong></p>
<p>Farm cooperatives come in many forms, but essentially result in a group of people splitting the harvest from local farms.  The benefits to both families and farmers are numerous, and arrangements need not be limited to plant-based foods.  A few years ago, my parents, siblings, and I split an entire cow for slaughter.  Over the course of a year, that single decision saved us hundreds of dollars in food costs.</p>
<p>It’s easy to fall into the trap of sacrificing healthy activities and foods when budgets are tight.  But with a little ingenuity, you’ll find there are ways to live a healthy lifestyle while still staying on a budget.</p>

<p>Think twice about promotions of different fad diets and weight loss plans. You may have noticed a lot of commercials on pills and other extreme weight loss plans, such as shakes and other methods that are endorsed or linked to some celebrities. These are usually promotions by manufacturers, and all it means is “business”. Most of these products give you false claims and could even be scams. Though they are heavily promoted by certain celebrities, only a few of them actually use these products. Celebrities have their own unique weight loss strategy, but they all have the same basic concepts towards maintaining their figure.</p>
<p>What is their secret? It’s none other than the natural way of losing weight.</p>
<p><strong>Diet</strong></p>
<p>When it comes to dieting, the natural way is to promote healthy food items that will give you the essential nutrients, but don’t necessarily contain high calories. Some celebrities suggest low carbs etc., but the most common diet they have is eating healthy foods such as green vegetables and fruit. They definitely loathe fat and greasy food. Fast food is a total no-no; you only see them eat fast food products in commercials. In general what comprises their diet is healthy foods with fewer calories. <p>Celebrities definitely workout, in fact they have their own personal coach and trainer. Exercise is how they maintain and shape their figure. There’s nothing to fear in going to a gym, it is the workhouse that allows you to shape your body.</p>

<p>Why do they always maintain weight and never fail? It is because of constant feedback. Ordinary people like us, only get feedback from close friends or family, and sometimes we get no feedback at all. However, for actors, actresses, and models, feedback is at a totally new level. They get all kinds of feedback all of the time, even in minute detail. Of course with constant and immediate comments or feedback, it is natural to act upon them. When one commentator says “She’s gone fat”, then that celebrity would definitely do all in her power to lose weight. So, don’t ever be afraid of feedback. Other relaxation methods have great benefits, including massages, spas and other related activities.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It happens every winter. I cozy up to the fire with a big mug of steaming hot chocolate with fresh whipped cream and a nice big plate of fresh-from-the-oven chocolate chip cookies, and I enjoy the splendor of relaxation.</p>
<p>Living in the northeast, the winters are harsh and I just can’t seem to motivate myself to exercise when it’s in the single digits. The couch calls my name and I simply cannot seem to resist, and I find myself giving into the temptation to ditch my exercise regime and just lounge.<span id="more-3371"></span></p>
<p>Unfortunately, when winter is over, the hot chocolate is gone, the snow has melted and I’m left with 15 extra pounds of weight on my hips. However, this year, my kids were home for Spring Break from their <a href="http://www.oliverianschool.org/academics/index.php">college preparatory boarding school</a> so I figured this was the best time to get myself outside with them and start shedding my winter weight.</p>
<p>Here’s how I shaped up for summer:</p>
<p><strong>Nutrition</strong></p>
<p>I hired a <a href="http://www.healthcarecolleges.net/healthcare-programs/kinesiology-courses/dietician-programs/">registered dietitian</a> to help me come up with a healthy eating plan that didn’t involve plates of cookies or sugar-laden beverages. We developed a nutritious diet that consisted mainly of lean meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats. Instead of eating three large meals a day, I eat about 5-6 mini meals so that my hunger never gets out of control and my blood sugar levels stay steady.</p>
<p>Me, my husband and our kids would gather in the kitchen every night and make a nutritious meal together. It was difficult at first to give up sweets and processed foods, but as I became more accustomed to buying and preparing fresh, nutritious foods, it became easier. My kids even started to ask for grilled fish instead of the usual request for take-out hamburgers and greasy fries!</p>
<p><strong>Exercise</strong></p>
<p>It was so great to have my children home that I decided to make an exercise plan that centered on them. Every day we would go out and do something new. Our favourite activities were playing in the park, going on hikes and biking! We went on a lot of hikes on our local trails and I couldn’t believe how much fun we were having while simultaneously doing something so good for our bodies. My son is a fabulous photographer and we would take pictures of various flowers and wildlife on our hikes.</p>
<p>Looking back at the pictures, you can see how much weight I’ve actually lost! We also played a wide variety of sports. We played soccer (my daughter’s favourite), basketball, volleyball, and even golf. I think the key to success in any exercise program is to mix it up so that you never get bored.</p>
<p>Through my exercise and nutritious eating plan, I managed to lose not only the 15 pounds I gained, but an additional five pounds. I am strong believer that healthy eating habits paired with consistent vigorous exercise will result in a healthy body, mind and figure!</p>

Even in terms of dieting, not all  people who follow strict weight loss diet achieve their target numbers  on the scale. It is not because these diets and  programs are hoax or ineffective; it is because these people who try to  lose weight are not motivated enough to achieve their goals. A lot of  them would tend to backslide every now and then; hence they do not get  the desired result and blame it on the weight loss program or diet.<span id="more-3107"></span></p>
<p><strong>Here are some of the reasons why you should lose weight:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>It’s good for the heart. Our heart is made of muscles; thus it is  very important that there should be no layer for flab because it would  not function well.</li>
<li>Exercise and workout will not only help lose weight but will also  develop healthy lungs; it will aid in getting the oxygen supply that  your body needs.</li>
<li>Daily exercise will keep you fit and happy. The happy hormones or endorphins are released during exercise.</li>
<li>It would boost your self-esteem and you start to feel good about  yourself. It will erase the feeling of paranoia that people are always  talking about your weight.</li>
<li>Another weight loss motivation would be the ability to move freely.  If you have weight problems, your movements are limited like you tend to  have a hard time to tie your own shoe lace or even paint your own toes.</li>
<li>Losing weight would mean that you would not feel embarrassed when  buying clothes and the largest size they have still won’t fit you.</li>
<li>You would not need to request for seatbelt extensions whenever you are onboard an airplane.</li>
</ul>
<p>These are just some of the numerous  reasons why it’s time to lose weight. Now if these reasons are still not  enough to motivate you to start exercising and dieting, then you could  also consider doing some of these motivation tips like;</p>

<li>Set realistic goals and breakdown these goals into smaller pieces in  order to easily achieve it. You would not feel discourage if you see  progress on the weight loss program.</li>
<li>Reward yourself. If you are able to meet your goal, it is best to  give something to yourself like a small bite of your favorite cake; it  can be a great reward for someone who has been trying to avoid eating  it.</li>
<li>Keep track on your progress. If you can take picture of the before  and after, that would truly motivate you to continue achieving your  goal.</li>
<li>The best motivation in losing weight is that you are doing this  because you love yourself. No one else would greatly benefit the weight  loss program but you.</li>

Well, actually there is a ‘best’ weight for everyone in which your body blossoms. This is the fit, slim and negative belly fat body. No matter what you wear and no matter where you are, maybe at the beach with your swim suit on or in your corporate attire, women and men with fit and healthy body always stands out. Now, how to get that kind of body?<span id="more-3147"></span></p>
<p><strong>Get in touch with your body</strong></p>
<p>Don’t stress yourself too much and try to get in touch with your body. All journeys to weight loss start from there. Getting to know your body and how it functions can affect your overall fitness efforts and self-esteem. Basically when you promote health and fitness you will feel good about yourself. Get in touch now and seek anything you need to improve or want to change in your body.</p>
<p>When talking about the ‘ideal weight’, this should fall under the normal range of your Basic Metabolic Rate or BMR. You can easily calculate your BMR using one of the free online tools on the net. The bottom line is that you should be willing to work on that, and remember that losing pounds doesn’t really mean looking good. To change your body appearance you will have to work your muscles as well.</p>
<p>The first step is to have a good diet plan that you can easily carry out. Staying healthy means making good food choices. For example you can jump start your day with a delicious meal of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains. You don’t have to make drastic changes, looking good and fit is a slow journey and you need to be patient.</p>
<p>The presence of belly fat is usually the main source of frustration when it comes to weight loss. To lose belly fat you need to avoid its causes. Fast food and alcohol are on top of the hierarchy. Try to limit this kind of foods as well as drinking less alcohol.</p>
<p>The second step is to have an exercise plan that works effectively for you. You should be able to start and focus on cardio exercise. This is the best method to burn fat and calories. Lose them the fast way by increasing the time period of your cardio, and remember that quality is better than quantity. Try to do regular jogs or brisk walks daily for about an hour or at least 30 minutes.</p>
<p>To maintain a good and formed figure, you have to do some strength training and muscle workouts as well. These may include different abdominal exercises to promote good flat and toned abs and also other weight lifting activities which help promote good posture. Attaining a good posture boosts up the model appearance that is in you.</p>
