The blustery days of winters are here in full force; and, they come as a nice reminder that it’s time to start burrowing deep in the seasons cozy haven of knits. There was a time when winter and style were mutually exclusive; however, this winter’s selection of fashionable knits brings the two together very stylishly. Here is your winter guide to the comfy and cozy world of knitwear!

Sleeveless

This season the sweater vest has gone from Poindexter to posh; lending itself very nicely to being dressed up or casually dressed. Many pieces come with snugly shawl collars, nubby textures and heaps of comfort; and the sleeveless knit can go seamlessly from day to night! Pair a knit vest with a fitted turtle neck and slim fitting jeans or leggings and V neck!

Tunic

A tunic is the perfectly cozy look; but what is so wonderful about the tunic is it transition effortlessly from casual home attire with leggings, to a classy option when layered over a flowing skirt; to dress it up further or swap in fitted pants and fancy shoes. Add an extra bit of wow to the look with a skinny belt that defines the waist.

Crop

Sometimes a small dose of a sweater goes a very long way to elevating your look. Pair a shrunken knit with a long blouse or dress for subtle sophistication. A cropped crew neck adds a playful note to the classic pairing of tux pants and dress shirt combo.

During the winter months, it’s easy to let the style fall by the wayside in favor of warmth; and who can blame- its cold! But warmth, comfort and style can elegantly co-exist with this year’s selection of cozy knits!

Although 90% of the world’s alpaca fleece is produced in Peru, alpaca products are popular around the world due to the fiber’s extreme versatility and practical use in a variety of products. While alpacas are native to South America and have been domesticated in Peru, alpacas are well-suited to North American climates as well, and small percentages are now raised in the United States and Canada for their coveted wool.

Because it is extremely warm, lightweight, and comfortable, alpaca wool is most widely used to produce alpaca clothing in Peru and the United States. Just a few of the reasons that alpaca wool is so popular for clothing garments are:

Soft and scratch-free alpaca wool feels wonderful against bare skin, unlike other popular animal fiber products such as sheep’s wool, making it ideal for items such as alpaca gloves, hats, scarves, and socks that demand both warmth and water-resistance in order to keep you warm and dry without sacrificing comfort.

Alpaca wool sweaters can be worn comfortably without an undergarment that might otherwise be worn to protect you from the scratchy material of sheep’s wool-based sweaters.

Alpaca robes are some of the most comfortable robes available due to their soft, warm, lightweight nature, and their ability to be washed over and over without pilling.

Other alpaca wool uses include craft projects, baby items, and home decorating uses.

Craft projects for which alpaca wool is used are fiber spinning, felting, knitting, and crocheting.

Fiber spinners enjoy spinning alpaca wool into yarn because of its softness, light weight, and durability, which produce high-quality yarn.

Knitters and crocheters love making handmade garments from alpaca wool for the same reasons, and because it is a joy to wear, alpaca-knit products make a wonderful gift for a loved one.

Felted alpaca wool, which is produced by washing the wool in hot water, is much softer than felted sheep’s wool, the fiber that is most commonly used for felting.

Baby items made from alpaca wool products are ideal. Not only are they incredibly soft and lightweight, but also they are suitable for comfort against babies’ soft skin.

Alpaca wool is dirt and water-resistant and can sustain many washings.

Baby blankets made from alpaca wool are soft, warm, and light.

Natural alpaca wool fiber is free of chemical dyes and is much safer for babies than synthetic fiber products.

Home fiber products such as woven rugs, upholstery, and blankets are both comfortable and durable when made from alpaca wool.

Woven floor rugs are stylish yet functional because the fiber is strong and resists water, dirt, and stains. Spills on these rugs are easy to clean up because they don’t soak in.

Upholstery made from alpaca wool is ideal for the same reasons: easy to clean, durable, and stain resistant.

Alpaca wool blankets and throws are a great way to decorate your home and provide comfort and warmth wherever it is needed. People who don’t like a lot of heavy blankets can enjoy sleeping under alpaca blankets and bedspreads.

As we face the big freeze this winter it is in our best interest to do anything possible to stay warm. However, we still want to look fashionable and ensure we have the right, key accessories that will come in handy time and time again.

UGG boots

Year after year the trusty UGG boots do not let us down. They provide everything from comfort to top class style and will usually be showcased by many celebs. The UGG boot is so soft and has a fleece inner lining that keeps the foot insulated, providing an extremely comfy surrounding that keep your toes warm and secure. The UGG boot has been classed as ‘it’s so comfy you feel like your wearing slippers’

An oversized scarf

An oversized thick scarf can keep you warm and provides you with a versatile wardrobe staple that can be pulled out year after year. You can wrap scarves around jackets to complete a brand new look which doesn’t cost you anything extra.

Ear Muffs

Ear Muffs may seem very 80s or kid like but they are making a huge statement this year. The beauty of ear muffs is that they can be worn without messing your hair up and they keep your ears toasty warm.

Hand warmers/ fingerless gloves

The one place we feel the cold is our hands as the frosty, icy weather sends a shocking tingle through the blood. As it can be awkward holding objects when wearing mittens or thick gloves, it is a good idea to invest in a pair of fingerless gloves that cover the majority of your arm.

Warm coat

A warm coat is probably on everyone’s shopping list for the winter season. You can choose a unique style as there are various styles, shapes, colours and overall fits. Large collars and oversized cuffs are perfect for blocking out the icy chill.

Hat

If you don’t fancy the ear muffs- woolly hats are always a saviour and you can buy a shape or style that will most definitely suit you. There are various hats available from cute, chunky knit to Eskimo style fur with ear flaps. A hat can make a personal statement about the wearer, and sends a message of individuality.

Leggings or tights

When the cold weather hits it is time to put the bare skin away and pull out the thick tights or leggings that keep you toasty warm.

Thanks to trusty jeggings, you no longer have to wear stiff heavy denim and feel uncomfortable through the winter months. Don’t struggle to get your jean legs into knee-length boots, opt for the soft jeggings that will slide in easily.
