Your choice of materials is wide open this year. Walk into any furniture store and there is literally something for everyone. You’ll find upholstery in leather, houndstooth, microfiber and organic cotton. Rather than choosing prints, consider solid materials in bold colours and accent your furniture with throws, pillows and cushions.

Look for materials that are easy to clean and durable. Avoid fabrics treated with Teflon and furniture coated with high-VOC finishes. The trend in materials is to go organic and eco-friendly. These materials are better for both your health and the environment.
