Montreal: Mode & Design Festival

Festival Mode & Design is probably one of the biggest Montreal events that celebrates Montreal fashion, local talents and creativity. A must-see this year! Either people in the fashion industry and some people that are just curious can assist to conference with fashion influencers, to artistic and musical performances, to an high heel race, to a lot of pop-up boutiques and to some spectacular fashion shows “signé”by designers from the city. Therefore, we went to FMD to see what Montreal had in store for us this year.

Thursday, August 24th

We were already feeling that festive vibe when we arrived to Quartier des Spectacles. First, we assisted to a very interesting conference about how to develop your brand hosting by the founders of BonVilain and Love & Beyond.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Expo 67, McCord museum planned a runway show in memory of this Montreal’s historical moment.

Remi Van Bochove’s show was shinning with oriental inspired fashion pieces. Special mention to that model who began to smoke in the middle of the presentation!

Our favorite show of the night was awarded to Lucas Stowe. The melodious voice of the opera singer named Monika was accompanied the models through the runway. We could notice that the designer wanted to send a message for everyone by putting condoms on the spotlight.**

Began by a artistic presentation, In.Cohérences by Gabriela Hébert opens its doors on an atypical world. It was so original!

The Dynamite’s show ends our night beautifully with its 15 gorgeous models and social media’s influencers like Kyla Cristina.

Friday, August 25th

We started our night with Fusion Jeunesse. Yes, teenagers from high school really made those collections! They are so talented!

Fashion preview -an event in October- gave us a nice taste of what is to come with a runway show created by local designers. We are excited to see what is next!

The Desjardins Complex show us a presentation of the new collections that are available in stores like La Vie en Rose and Reitmans.

Beige by Michèle Adrienne presented us some looks which the color “yellow highlighter” was the center of attention. We can’t be “incognito” anymore!

The band Wizaard joined the fashion show Introduction by Of Sharks & Men. There was a party vibe in here!

Frederiqueleg and his neutral collection. We want everything!

The most anticipated moment was obviously the fashion show Sorry Mom “signé” Gabriel Drolet-Maguire. Everyone applauded his talent. A real piece of artwork was in front of us!

Expo Now presented by LaSalle College conclude the night with a runway inspired by Expo 67 and the future. We loved the environmental aspect and the final with amazing female singers and all the models. Everyone was on the stage, dancing and having fun. What a great time to be alive!

See you next year!

Introduction par Of Sharks & Men était accompagné par le groupe de musique Wizaard.
