Tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Erin Claire Jones, and I’ve been working with Human Design for a decade!
I discovered it serendipitously through a stranger at a party in NYC in 2015, and have been teaching ever since. Over the past decade, I’ve helped hundreds of thousands use Human Design as a practical tool for alignment in work, love, and life. My personalized guides have been purchased by customers in over 160 countries, I’ve spoken on stages across the world, and I just released my debut book, How Do You Choose? A Human Design Guide to What’s Best for You at Work, in Love, and in Life with HarperCollins.
Human Design is the most practical tool I’ve found that gives us, quite simply, permission to be ourselves. So often, we spend our lives trying to be everything we’re not, and Human Design returns us to who we actually are.
How do you define the process of Human Design?
Human Design is a mystical personality assessment based on your time, date, and place of birth that reveals how you’re uniquely wired to operate in every area of your life. It’s highly specific and incredibly practical. Think how you’re meant to make decisions, how you best work in teams, how you can find your next opportunity, where you’re most likely to be taken off track, and so much more. It’s like having a custom operating manual.
You recently published “How do you Choose?”, congratulations! I love it! What’s one tip you can share for people just beginning their HD journey?
Thank you! It’s been such a ride! In my book, my intention was to make the system as practical as possible and to outline clearly how people can not just learn about themselves, but actually use these insights to tangibly transform their lives.
My tip is this: start simple. As tempting as it may be to get swept away by all the numbers and centers and details, the most transformation happens with the most fundamental information. Start with your Type (your innate gifts and how you best use your energy), your Strategy (how you best create opportunities), and your Authority (how you make your best decisions). Just integrating those three pieces can change your life.
Explain a little bit about environments to us. What environments are you and what’s a must have for you to feel supported in yours?
Human Design offers endless information, and one fascinating piece is the environment where we naturally thrive. These are more symbolic than literal. For example, my environment is kitchens. This doesn’t mean I need to live in an actual kitchen, but it does mean I do well in creative, buzzy environments where it feels like things are happening and I’m part of the action.
I moved out of NYC to the woods four years ago, so I get my kitchens fix by working out of cafes, hosting gatherings at my house, and seeking out that creative buzz whenever I feel stuck.
What’s your favourite summer destination? Â
Honestly, at the moment, exactly where I am! I lived in cities my entire life, so I’m still relishing the fact that I get to live in nature. The only thing I miss is the water. For that, I’d say my favorite destinations are Kauai, the Amalfi Coast, or Mendocino, California.
