Summer Outfit Inspiration from the French Riviera

Summer is almost here! So, let me take this opportunity of spring-summer limbo to provide some wardrobe inspiration for all of your summer travels and/or your “summer at home but dressing like she’s on the French Riviera” ensembles.

The Cannes film festival ended last week and as model-world-takeover continues well into 2017, our Instagram feeds were filled with Kendall, Bella, Elsa, etc. frolicking on La Croisette or catching rays on “modest” yachts. Aside from all these shenanigans, these outings provides some real summer outfit-inspiration.

One of my favourite looks being that of Miss Emily Ratajkowski, who took an unexpected risk and proving that black CAN be worn in the heat, and can still look light, summery, and fun. Prior to taking the streets, she posted an Instagram Story with her inspiration for her day’s look, an outfit French icon Brigitte Bardot once sported, which added a nice vintage touch and proved that the girl (or let’s give credit where it’s due, her stylist) did her research before packing.

Summer is also the high-season for weddings, specifically, outdoor fêtes that are difficult to dress for because you don’t want to be too beachy, but you also don’t want to be the most overdressed gal at the ball. Although the gowns themselves may be a bit over-the-top for the typical wedding, I think the real-life doll Elsa Hosk gave us some great summer wedding inspiration with these two numbers below. She showed us that perhaps it is finally time to veer away from the floral, flowy, bohemian vibe and wear a solid pastel gown this summer.

Having been to Cannes during the film festival madness, I will say that every single day is a fashion show. Whether you are just going to the beach to tan or to indulge with some champagne and frites, you will be surrounded by the chicest ensembles that you have ever laid your eyes on, and in turn, as typical French custom, you are expected to play the part. To keep up, I think a classic go-to look is an all-white ensemble with a sick pair of shades. I even challenge you to wear this look on a summer day in the city to really turn some heads.
